London Monét | Artist & Songwriter

Hello London, tell us about your journey and how you became who you are today.

I have been singing my entire life, both in church and throughout school, being heavily involved in theatre. I began writing and taking my artistry seriously in 2016 releasing songs online and performing locally. In 2019 I took a leap of faith, moving to Los Angeles, where a lot of doors for opportunity opened to me. For a few years I took a break from creating my own music, but found ways to remain in the environment by working and writing with other artists. I’ve even been blessed with amazing opportunities to sing alongside, THE Icon, Beyoncé. Present day, I am back in my musical bag, pushing my artistry forward and showing the world who London Monét is.

What first got you into music?

Church. Like many other R&B artists, I began singing in church. I was in the children’s choir, and after a solo performance, I knew, at the age of 6, that I wanted to be a singer.

Who inspired you to make music?

Aaliyah was one of the first artists that I gravitated towards growing up. When I first began creating music, it was heavily influenced by her style/sound.

How would you describe the music that you typically create/write?

I’d describe the music I create as having mellow vibes. Pleasantly smooth. Depending on your mood, something you can chill, grab your drink or Vice of choice lol and listen to.

If You Could Change Anything About The Industry, What Would It Be?

I feel as though, lately, the industry has put image and instant gratification in the forefront. Though these are things that add to an artist’s appeal, I’d shift things back to the talent/music being the main focus. Both quality and the overall feel, bringing good timeless music and all that goes into it back.

What's the best piece of advice another musician has ever given you?

Don’t overthink. If you like what you create, there will be others that do as well.

For someone new to your music what song of yours would you tell them to listen to first?

No Warning. It is a song by me along with an amazing artist by the name of Tina Noelle. It’s sensual, and a vibe for both women and men.

What’s next for you? Do you have any upcoming projects or shows?

Right now I am experimenting with my music. Finding what my sound truly is, and perfecting my craft. I plan to continue releasing singles, while working towards a project. I definitely see myself performing this year so that’ll be something to look forward to.
